In our work in education — both K-12 and higher education — “change” often is seen as a single noun, not a verb. Many of the organizations we deal with characterize and discuss change as a single event to “get through” to the other side.
This is odd. Educational organizations often are not designed as “learning organizations,” organizations designed to grow and iterate.
Within this realm, Maremel has created both change processes for educational organizations and reflective learning modules. We’ve also spoken at a variety of events on changes happening — or not happening — in educational organizations that embrace the potential of connected technologies.
Examples:
- Book from 2009-2011 research: Reframing Technology Narratives and Routines to Energize Organizational Change
- “Rethinking Organizational Change Through Technology Frames and Narrative Drivers, “American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2012 Annual Meeting, Vancouver, B.C., Apr 13 – 17, 2012
- Academy of Management (AOM) Professional Development Workshop: “Changing Minds, Changing Organizations, Changing Technologies,” 2012 (link to slides)
- SXSWedu “Blending the University”, March 2013
- Sloan Consortium Conference International Conference on Online Learning, Professional Development Workshop: “To MOOC or Not to MOOC?” (scheduled March 2013)
- SXSWedu Panel Picker 2014: To MOOC or Not to MOOC? Real Questions at the Core (targeted for March 2014)
